1995-2003 yılları arasında İstanbul Erkek Lisesi’nde okuyan Bihter, Türkiye’de Hukuk ve Mütercim Tercümanlık Bölümleri arasında çift anadal yapmayı sağlayan ilk başvurunun sahibi olarak 2008 yılında Yeditepe Üniversitesi Hukuk Fakültesi’nden bölüm 7.’si, ve İngilizce Mütercim Tercümanlık Bölümü’nden bölüm 2.si. olarak mezun oldu.

Hukuk Yüksek Lisans (LLM) derecesini, Brüksel’de Vrije Universiteit Program on International Legal Cooperation (PILC)’da; ‘Ceza Hukukunda Kök Hücre Çalışmalarına ve Biyotıp Sözleşmesine Karşılaştırmalı Bir Yaklaşım başlıklı yüksek lisans tezi’ ile ‘Onur Derecesi’ alarak tamamladı. Avukatlık stajını yaparken başladığı disiplinlerarası doktora çalışmasını, 2018 yılında tamamlayarak, İstanbul Üniversitesi Çeviribilim Bölümü’nden doktor ünvanını aldı. ‘Mahkeme Çevirmeninin Rolü ve Görünürlüğü’ başlıklı doktora çalışmasında, her iki çalışma alanının kesişme noktası olan yargılamada sözlü çeviri sürecine odaklandı. Kasım 2019’da Contemporary Approaches to Legal Linguistics Semineri’nde yaptığı poster sunumunun ardından Österreichische Gesellschaft für Rechtslinguistik (ÖGRL) üyeliğine kabul edildi.

Bihter, 2020 yılından beri Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Mütercim Tercümanlık Bölümü’nde yarı zamanlı öğretim görevlisi olarak Mahkeme Tercümanlığı dersleri vermektedir. 2020-2021 yılları arasında Nişantaşı Üniversitesi’nde öğretim üyesi olarak çalışan Bihter, yine, 2021 – 2022 öğretim yılında Ljubljana Üniversitesi’nde düzenlenen toplum çevirmenliği eğitim programında, mahkeme tercümanlığı alanında danışman olarak görev yapmıştır. Bihter, İngilizce, Almanca, Fransızca, Türkçe ve Türk İşaret Dili arasında ve çoğunluğunu hukuk metinlerinin oluşturduğu çeşitli alanlarda, yazılı ve sözlü olarak teknik metin çevirileri yapmaya devam etmektedir.

Akademik çalışma hayatının yanı sıra, Bihter, kurucusu olduğu Optimum Pactum Hukuk Bürosu bünyesinde İstanbul Barosu avukatı sıfatıyla hukuki danışmanlık ile avukatlık ve arabulucu ve Londra CIArb Associate sıfatlarıyla, alternatif uyuşmazlık çözüm yolları alanlarında hizmet vermektedir.

Following her graduation from Istanbul High School (Istanbul Erkek Lisesi) in 2003, Bihter started her license program in law the same year. As a full scholarship student at Yeditepe University and as the owner of the first application enabling an interdisciplinary double major between the Faculty of Law and the Department of Translation and Interpreting, she became the first double major graduate from these two branches, where she graduated as the seventh-best ranked student in law and the second-best, in the translation and interpreting in 2008. 

As a full scholarship student, she completed her Master of Law (LLM) degree at the Vrije Universiteit Brussels with a ‘Cum Laude’ degree in the Program on International Legal Cooperation (PILC). Her master thesis focus was a comparative approach to stem cell studies and the Biomedicine Convention in the context of criminal law.

She graduated from Istanbul University’s Ph.D. Program in Translation Studies in 2018. In her Ph.D. thesis, she focused on the role and the visibility of court interpreting, an intersection set of both fields of study. She was accepted as a member of the Österreichische Gesellschaft für Rechtslinguistik (ÖGRL) following her poster presentation in Contemporary Approaches to Legal Linguistics Seminar in November 2019.

As a part-time faculty, Bihter has lectured at Boğaziçi University in the Department of Translation Studies since 2020 courses on court interpreting. She worked at Nişantaşı University between 2020-2021 as a full-time faculty for one year, and in 2021-2022 she served as a consultant for the community interpreter’s training program at the University of Ljubljana as a court interpreting expert academic. Bihter continues to offer her services as a freelance translator to translate technical texts and as a legal interpreter in various contexts, from and to English, German, French, Turkish, and Turkish Sign Language.

Apart from her professional life in the academy, Bihter offers legal consultancy, advocacy services as a member of the Istanbul Bar Association, and alternative dispute resolution methods services as a registered mediator and CIArb associate within Optimum Pactum Law Firm, of which she is the founder.
